Tron 3 is now back in action with two intriguing announcements made a few days apart for the franchise's fans.
The director of the third sci-fi movie, Joachim Rønning, claimed in a recent post that filming for the sequel has begun.
Furthermore, a number of publications earlier today announced that Gillian Anderson has joined the cast of Tron 3, joining a star-studded ensemble that already included the likes of Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jared Leto, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
The official logo for the third film, which is a smart parody of the previous design, was also leaked in Joachim Rønning's post.
The third movie in the series, dubbed Tron: Ares, might come out in late 2025, though that hasn't been confirmed yet.
The most well-known role of Gillian Anderson is perhaps that of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully from The X-Files. She played the same part in follow-up television shows and feature films.
More recently, Anderson gained recognition for her portrayal of the s*x therapist Jean Milburn in the comedy-drama Sex Education on Netflix, where she starred in all four seasons as a key character.
She also made an appearance in the fourth season of the Netflix drama The Crown, playing British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
